The official designation site of the Texas Early College High School (ECHS).
In August of 2017, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) implemented a new Early College High School (ECHS) design Blueprint. Schools seeking ECHS designation must engage in one year of planning (known as the "Planning Year") with the support of a TEA selected technical assistance provider, Educate Texas, prior to being designated as an ECHS. Existing ECHS designees must reapply annually for ECHS designation renewal and demonstrate they are continuing to meet the Blueprint design elements and outcomes-based measures (OBMs). TEA will continue to evaluate the Blueprint and incorporate stakeholder feedback to support schools. The Blueprint will ensure that schools fulfill ECHS requirements with fidelity of implementation.
In order to operate as a Texas Education Agency-approved Early College High School, all prospective ECHS must engage in a planning year prior to receiving Early College High School designation from TEA.
The technical assistance webinar was held Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
Designated ECHS must reapply for designation every academic year. Campuses can only apply for designation renewal if they held designation status in the current academic year.
